Dear FUSD Community,
In Appreciation
It has been a busy week for all of us as we close the school year and say goodbye and best wishes to the Class of 2020. I want to thank our teachers, principals, staff, and parent volunteers for the amazing work they have done organizing and coordinating their schools’ end of the year activities. I have attended all our high schools’ drive-thru Graduation Ceremonies and have been more than impressed with how smoothly they were run given the short amount of time to prepare. While we wish we could have given our seniors the send-off they deserve, I hope they were able to feel the pride we have in each and every one of them.
As we head into Summer Break, on behalf of the Board of Education and myself, we also want to thank all of our educators and families for their patience and support over the past three months, and especially our students. You had a difficult situation dropped on you that involved many factors we have never experienced before. I appreciate the work you put in throughout the spring and the resilience you have shown as we worked to institute a distance learning plan. Our staff will be working throughout the summer in preparation of the new school year and will keep you updated as more information becomes available. In the meantime, please relax, take time for yourselves and enjoy your well-deserved break.
Student & Parent Survey
By now, you have hopefully received information regarding a survey we are asking our students and parents/guardians to take to provide feedback regarding distance learning and the opening of schools in August. Please take a moment to answer a few questions to assist the FUSD Task Force and Board of Education in planning for the 2020-21 school year.
Meal Service
The District’s Grab & Go Meal Pick-up Service will continue on its current schedule through June 30th. Following that date, service will continue at Cabrillo Elementary throughout the summer. We will be announcing more information in the coming weeks. Our Child Nutrition Services Department is also informing families about a service providing families with money for groceries while schools are closed.
Library Awards
The District’s annual Library Awards have been announced. Please join me in congratulating the following schools and Library Media Technicians:
